More Info on the Season Preview

In our upcoming season, we will be performing two contrasting works of late Romantic period church music, as well as Stravinsky’s 20th-century combination of the symphonic and choral styles. And of course the delicious La bohème.

As one of the coming attractions, we will sing excerpts from Rachmaninoff’s Vespers. Usually associated with rich, distinctive orchestral works, Rachmaninoff, in his Vespers, is steeped in the tradition of Russian Orthodox Church, the singers are on their own! Be prepared, some of the elements of Russian singing include a wide range of pitches and quick changes of dynamics.

Bruckner’s Mass in E Minor will be performed in the June concert accompanied by orchestral winds and brass. It is based on the musical tradition of the Roman church, Gregorian chant and the Renaissance—quite a different feeling from the vespers. We hope you will enjoy both of them and come to sing them with us in their entirety this season.
