2015 Wine Gala Featured Wines

Still reminiscing about the wines you tasted at the sold-out 2015 Wine Gala? Or perhaps you couldn’t make it but have heard the rave reviews. Lucky for you, our friends at Beekman Wine & Liquors in Glen Rock have agreed to stock this year’s delicious wines for you to enjoy year-round!

Chenin Blanc, Vinum Cellars, California

Tasting Notes: Clean, crisp, dry and tangy (think fresh-cut apples with a whiff of honey) this wine is appealing because of its freshness and acidity. This is a wonderful, refreshing aperitif or anytime wine – by the pool, with a light lunch, or with a serious dinner. It pairs well with the earthy Mediterranean flavors of cheese, roasted vegetables, and fruit.

Cotes de Gascogne, Mont Gravet, France

Tasting Notes: A 100% Colombard harvested at night with a pale, bright yellow color and an intense, refreshing nose full of exotic fruit aromas such as pineapple and passion fruit. The mouth is dry with flavors of citrus fruit and blackcurrant leaf. Balanced by a crisp acidity, this lovely wine can be enjoyed by itself as an aperitif or with any seafood.

Rosso, Gran Passione, Italy

Tasting Notes: crafted in the tradition of “Apassimento” (to dry and shrivel), the same style as Amarone wines of the region. This technique has its roots in an ancient past dating back to the Roman era. Over the centuries, this technique of “drying” the grapes before crushing has been honed, resulting in this unique expression of northern Italy.

Malbec, Zuccardi Q, Argentina

Tasting Notes: This is a wine of great personality, deep violet in color, with notes of dark plum, figs and blackberries. The nose is very fresh with red berries and violets, licorice and a chalky minerality. The palate is medium-bodied with some herbaceous freshness, good balance and length, fresh and vertical

Champagne, Besserat de Bellefon, France

Tasting Notes: Lack of malolactic fermentation maintains a crisp acidity and a more fruit-forward profile. Very creamy and refined in texture, with bright, mouthwatering acidity and a pure beam of lemon curd, poached pear, stony mineral and dried apricot flavor. Hints of smoke and sea salt show on the fresh finish. This champagne is the perfect accompaniment to a wide array of foods or to drink as an aperitif.
