About Ars Musica
Founded in 1965, Ars Musica began as a small community chorus. Now, more than fifty years later, Ars Musica is recognized as one of the most accomplished choruses in the area and continues to offer singers the opportunity to perform a wide variety of great music. Singers interested in auditioning for the 2018–2019 season may email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an audition. Auditions are held on a rolling basis and new singers are accepted throughout the performance season.
What to Expect at Your Audition
All prospective members will audition with Music Director James Kennerley. Singers are invited but not required to perform a solo of their choice. Mr. Kennerley will lead all singers through a series of simple vocalises to determine vocal range and quality as well as a brief sight-singing exercise. The audition will take no more than ten minutes, and all singers will be notified of the audition outcome within one week.
What to Expect as a Member
New members of Ars Musica can expect to be welcomed into the tristate’s warmest choral family. Rehearsals are held from 7:30–10:00pm on Tuesday evenings from early September through early June at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113 Cottage Place, Ridgewood, NJ. Ars Musica performs four concert programs per season of challenging and rewarding choral works in some of the region’s most beautiful venues.
