Who is eligible to apply?

We are currently accepting applications. Recent graduates, current graduate students, and emerging professional musicians are encouraged to apply. Advanced undergraduate students will also be considered.

How do I apply?

To apply, please complete and submit our application form. Following your submission, please write to with

  • Your current resume & headshot
  • One audio sample (link or .mp3, .wav)
  • Names and contact information for up to three references.
What is the deadline for applications?

Applications will be accepted until March 18. 2016, with auditions to follow in early April. To ensure your application is considered, please submit all materials as soon as possible.

When will I be notified whether or not I’ve been granted an audition?

Expect to receive notification of your audition status by March 21, 2016.

What do the auditions entail?

Singers will be asked to prepare two to three works in contrasting styles (at least one foreign language and one English). One example should include coloratura.

What can I expect to gain as a Young Artist?

Young Artists will gain invaluable experience as both a choral and solo artist with one of the tristate’s premiere ensemble. For a full list of Young Artists benefits, please see About the Program.

Is this a paid position?

Yes. All Young Artists will receive a stipend for the season, paid in quarterly installments.

What is the repertoire for the 2016–2017 Season?

Repertoire for the 2015–2016 Season includes

  • Beethoven: Symphony No. 9
  • Handel: Messiah
  • Haydn: Lord Nelson Mass
  • Mozart: Coronation Mass
  • Mendelssohn: Die Erste Waldpurgisnacht
  • Rossini: Petite Messe Solennelle
  • Vaughan Williams: Dona Nobis Pacem
