On Saturday, tadalafil February 23, physician Ars Musica presented its annual Wine and Food Gala at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood. Guests were treated to a lovely selection of wines with a theme of Northern Italian cuisine. The evening began as guests purchased raffle tickets and our Wine Chair, Kathy Wertalik, started everyone with a Prosecco, an Italian sparkling white wine. The next two wines were a Pinot Grigio and a Pinot Bianco, respectively. By the time most people were enjoying a Babaresco, a red wine from the Nebbiolo grape, dinner was being served. With many thanks to Dejah Olsen, Gregory Antonetti, and Andrea Castagneto, and our servers, the menu provided a wonderful compliment to the wines. Some of the dinner selections included pesto chicken, manicotti, beef with polenta, mixed vegetables and a vegan vegetable pasta medley. A Sangiovese blend with Cabernet and Merlot rounded out the red wines for the evening.
Following dinner, attendees were treated to the music talents of current members and interns with classical selections including pieces by Mozart, and the beautiful “Si, Mi chiamano Mimi,” as sung by Alexis Rodda, who will be singing the role of Mimi in La bohème with Ars Musica on March 8, 2013.
Dessert included biscotti and tiramisu and concluded with a Moscato, another sparkling white wine with a sweet finish similar to apricots and white ginger. Paul Donohoe began the auction during dessert with record making bids for prepared sauerkraut, baked goods, and a lovely orchid portrait donated by Paul from his work with the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. The silent auction also concluded with items selling in support of Ars Musica’s artistic mission.
