Ars Musica Chorale, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) NJ non-profit corporation.
The Mission of Ars Musica Chorale is:
- to craft excellent programs of a wide range of choral music;
- to provide singers with challenging, instructive, and rewarding opportunities to make music together;
- and to enrich and educate the community by offering the excitement of live performance to a broad audience.
History
Founded in 1965 by female conductor, Joyce Keshner, Ars Musica has presented more than 50 years of great choral music in northern Bergen County. The chorale membership includes an average of 70 professional and avocational singers who come together to present four concerts of classical works in local venues. The chorale in years past has toured and performed in New York City’s most prestigious venues, as well as around the country, and throughout Europe.
Programs
Since the 2000’s Ars Musica has focused its programs less on travel and more on local performance and music education. In 2014, Ars Musica developed the Encore Young Artist Program (EYAP), an artist in resident program for aspiring professional singers. The EYAP has provided performance and training opportunities to more than a dozen students who have gone on to budding careers in choral performance. A youth choir, the New Jersey State Children’s Chorus, was incorporated in 2016 as a sister organization to Ars Musica Chorale. Pre-concert lectures offer insights to the composers and the works to be performed.
Who we serve
Ars Musica patrons come from throughout the region. Partnerships with local senior organizations and those serving people with disabilities enjoy discounted and free tickets to Ars Musica performances. AMC always seeks to grow its audiences, expanding access, and increasing appreciation for classical choral music.
Financials
Ars Musica Chorale is committed to fiscal accountability and transparency with independent financial audits undertaken each year.
